Kenny Chesney offers fans a “euphoric attitude adjustment” with his new single “Here and Now,” a stadium-sized reminder to live firmly in the moment.

Written by David Lee Murphy, Craig Wiseman and David Garcia, Chesney’s latest feel-good epic feels in some ways like a throwback to the classic hits of the superstar’s past. Ringing electric guitars and hands-in-the-air vocals seem tailor-made for his beloved live concerts, while a big picture theme about seizing the day captures Chesney’s longtime point of view.

“There is so much in the world we can’t change,” he says, “and you can get so caught up in that, you miss your life. I can’t save the world, but I can make music that makes people happy, play shows that let them forget their problems for an evening – and occasionally cut a song that maybe reminds all of us what we ought to be embracing.”

The track was written in Malibu, California, during a writing retreat Chesney orchestrated, and will likely mark the second single from a soon-to-be-announced album project. Chesney’s been teasing the new track and album for months, getting his “No Shoes Nation” fanbase ready for the next chapter of his long career.

“Like the chorus says, ‘You and me, ain’t it good to be alive / Ain’t no better place, ain’t no better time / Than here and now …’,” Chesney continues. “I know there will days and moments that suck, but so many of them, we can decide how we feel and what we want to focus on. I’m hoping No Shoes Nation – and everyone else – can hear this and feel really good about the moment.”

Chesney was awarded the Country Radio Broadcasters’ Humanitarian of the Year Award at the 2020 Country Radio Seminar yesterday (February 20), and will embark on the Chillaxification Tour 2020 with Florida Georgia Line and Old Dominion April 18 in Arlington, Texas.
