Kimberly Perry: Engaged!

Kimberly Perry, J.P. Arencibia

Congratulations are in order for Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry as she is recently engaged to Toronto Blue Jays starting catcher J.P. Arencibia, according to The Tennessean.

Perry and Arencibia, who have been dating for a year-and-a-half, got engaged on Monday (9/30) at her parents’ house in Greeneville, TN.

Perry knew Arencibia would be coming to visit since the Blue Jays’ season ended on Sunday, however, she had no idea what would take place upon his arrival. Perry thought they were meeting her family for dinner, but when they called her outside, she saw Arencibia standing under the massive oak tree where she dreamed of being proposed to from the moment her family moved to the 15-acre farm. She always thought, “if I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.”

After seeing him she thought, “this is really happening.”Her mother ushered her back into the house where she put on her favorite pink dress and found a letter from her family as well as a bracelet her grandfather had given her grandmother when they started dating years ago.

“I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” she recalls. “I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”

Perry and Arencibia first met in February 2012 at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida. According to The Tennessean’s report, Arencibia saw Perry in the trio’s “If I Die Young” music video and “had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future.” He was right. He ended up using some connections to get backstage at one of TBP’s shows some time later and scored Perry’s phone number in the meet and greet. The rest is history.

The couple plans to wed next summer.
