Kip Moore has dropped the lead single from his upcoming fourth studio record. “She’s Mine,” a song that showcases Moore’s signature rocking, drum-heavy sound, serves as a taste of the project that has been set for an early 2020 release.

“She’s Mine” was co-written with Dan Couch and Scott Stepakoff, and produced solely by Moore himself.

“I wrote this song at a time in my life when I realized that my life was flipped upside down and I didn’t know which way was up,” shared Moore in a press release. “Every experience from there forward, I felt like everything was going to be a surprise. I didn’t know where I was going to end up, who I was going to meet or who I was going to be with. I’m fired up to be getting new music out there, and this song is just the beginning. I know the fans are ready and so am I.”

A little known fact about this song is that it almost made the cut for the 39-year-old’s sophomore album, but something was just missing.

“We just missed the mark when we tracked it the first time for Wild Ones,” he told Billboard over the phone from his home in Nashville. “It was too slick and didn’t capture the energy like I wanted it to or even the sentiment of the song … I wasn’t willing to put it out with the way that it was.”

Adding further, he said, “the song always felt like a hit record to me. It always put me a good mood. It’s definitely one of the most lighthearted tracks on this new record,” he says of the upcoming project, which will be produced entirely by himself too.

“I believe that you’re definitely going to see another step of growth on this record. Not only musically, but me as a human … There’s a lot of weight on a lot of these songs. There’s a lot of trying to figure out where you fit in this life as far as your faith and God and love and all these things. I think there’s a lot of heavy weight throughout this record.”
