For her new record, Kree Harrison wanted to escape the craziness surrounding her to hone in on her authenticity and did just that with a little help from her friends.

Harrison’s new album, This Old Thing, is set to release this Friday, July 8 and while she’s excited about the music she’s created for this project, she’s also feeling the positive nerves that so many musicians go through during their musical journeys. She talked exclusively with Sounds Like Nashville about the process she went through with this record and why she’s ready for fans to get their hands on the album.

“I’m so anxious for everybody to hear this record,” she admitted. “I wanted to check out completely and you know, bring a band and do it old school.”

The first single off the album, which goes by the same name, sets the groovy tone for the soulful country vibe that Harrison is going for. She anchors herself within her powerful vocal track by track, enforcing the same reoccurring themes throughout This Old Thing and bringing her own flair to the sounds of country music.

Harrison also tied in her R&B-meets-country style in her songwriting process, in which she enlisted the help of her Nashville friends to collaborate with.

“I think it would be ignorant for me to say I’m gonna write my whole record, ‘cause I live in Music City where we have some of the best songwriters. So I fell in love with songs I didn’t write and I’m so happy that they’re on my record,” Harrison said.
