Lady Antebellum is going on a much-deserved hiatus after they wrap their current Wheels Up Tour.

Hillary Scott spoke to E! about the band’s upcoming break earlier this week. “We’ve just made so many albums in such a short period of time, and we’re proud of them, and what we’ve done in our career, and what we’ve said with them—but we’ve never given ourselves the gift of time,” the 29-year-old said. “So, that’s what this next season is for us, spending time with our families, and really relishing in this successful year for us, and focusing on where we’re headed next.”

But don’t worry, the band plans to continue to write and plan for future projects during their down time. “Everything’s obviously always in forward motion, but since our first album we’ve not really given ourselves the gift of time, to just get in the room and write together until we feel like we have everything,” she explained.

There is no set time limit for the trio’s break, though. Scott says she feels like they will know when it’s time to get back to it. “Knowing us, it will probably be a lot shorter than what we probably set out for it to be, because we can’t ever really stop,” Scott says. “But yeah, there’s no timeline, and that feels so nice to know. When we feel like it’s ready we’ll go to work.”

One of the things Hillary is looking forward to most is making up for lost time with those she cares about the most. She said she can’t wait “to be able to just spend time with our friends and family, and everyone we love,” she said. “So, I’ll be cooking a lot in my kitchen and having people over, and just honestly making up for lost time with memories with everyone we love. That’s the hard thing about what we do is just being away from our friends and family.”

Family will surely be coming first for Scott, who is mom to two-year-old Eisele Kaye, and her bandmates. Dave Haywood has an almost one-year-old old at home, and Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie are expecting their first child in February.

Lady A’s last scheduled show of 2015 is the at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on October 3.
