Lakeview — the emerging country duo comprised of Jesse Denaro and Luke Healy — aim to drown their sorrows with a clever new track, riding shotgun to a broken heart in “She Drove Me to the Bar.”

Co-written by the band with Dave Thomson and co-produced with Jonathan Roach, the slow-cruising anthem takes a left turn away from your typical bar stool ballad. Featuring fuzzed out guitars, heart-pounding drums and a woozy chorus, it revolves around a play on words that would make any poet proud — not about physically getting to the local tavern, but being driven there nonetheless. “She ain’t even in the car, but she drove me to the bar,” goes the top-shelf hook.

“If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s the fact that heartbreak is universal,” the band’s Denaro explains. “We all cope with it differently, and sometimes it can feel damn near impossible to shake – so much so, it’s as if it’s just taking the wheel in your life. My favorite part of ‘She Drove Me to the Bar’ is the unexpected play on words that really bring that concept to life. We had such a blast writing this song and really hope that everyone enjoys it as much as we do.”

“She Drove Me to the Bar” is just the latest in the duo’s initial push of new music, following early tracks “Rain Down,” “Eyes Closed” and their energetic debut, “Poor Me.” More new tunes are expected in the coming months.
