Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi team up for a bluesy rebound anthem in the duet, “Getting Over Him,” but after going for broke in a newly-released video, they end up right back where they started.

Playing a modern day Bonnie & Clyde, fresh out of jail after a daring escape, the pair are on the road and on the run — aiming to live it up while they can. Just like the song suggests, they’re only looking for a good time and want it fast, but they soon find out freedom isn’t free.

The brashly-dressed bandits hold up a roadside diner for some quick cash, but this was no harmless hold up, and word gets around fast. Soon lights are flashing red and blue in the rearview. But despite their ride-or-die attitude, someone’s going back to the joint.

“We were dive bar kissing / Heartbreak fixing / No strings, Saturday night / Hot like a match that burned out fast / Forever wasn’t in our eyes / You knew it, and I knew it / And it was a damn good time / My last call, first call, no falling / Just my getting over him guy,” goes the hard-hitting chorus, with heavy electric guitars and pounding drums in the background.

“Getting Over Him” was written by Lauren Alaina with Emily Weisband and Paul DiGiovanni, and appears as the title track to her 2020 EP of the same name. It’s currently out at country radio and working its way up the charts.
