LoneHollow Glide Into Blues Rocking Love With ‘Slide Over’

Emerging duo LoneHollow explore the slippery side of seduction for the new track, “Slide Over,” premiering exclusively on Sounds Like Nashville today (April 7).

Featuring a fat-bottomed electric blues sound and the flirtatious vocal of a juke-joint temptress, the track is the work of singer Rylie Bourne and guitarist Damon Atkins — and it’s hard to ignore.

Full of mystery and built on the swampy foundations of Southern rock, “Slide Over” is all foot-stomping beats and steady-thumping bass, conjuring images of a smoky roadhouse and a night that’s about to go sideways. It’s part of the newcomer duo’s self-titled EP — which is set to arrive Friday (April 9) — and although LoneHollow say their roots lie in country and bluegrass, “Slide Over” finds them embracing their inner rock star.

In fact, with Atkins’ dueling himself on a rowdy distorted slide guitar, the track is something of a tribute to a blues-rock master.

“Though this was our first time covering a song, we could easily hear why Alex Torrez (producer) suggested that we cut it,” the band says in a statement to SLN. “We got together to hash out a demo and it really grew from there. We loved having the chance to rock it out a bit and show that edge to our music. Damon really sussed out the guitar parts/tones and the solo is our best attempt at ‘What would Bonnie Raitt do…?'”

“Slide Over” is part of LoneHollow’s upcoming self-titled EP, arriving April 9 and featuring five new songs — each one a different look at the head-spinning contrasts of love. The band was formed in Nashville three years ago and has also released the singles “Not Today” and “I Don’t Love You Anymore.”
