Luke Combs helps an old friend get over his breakup in the official music video for “Cold As You,” sending dedicated fans on a bit of treasure hunt in the process.

Revolving around the country star’s hard-hitting heartbreak anthem — which mixes Combs’ buzzy vocals and icy lyrics with a 100-proof country rock sound — the clip is filled with familiar faces, and even a few “easter eggs” to spot.

Directed by TA Films, Combs’ “Cold As You” video features a couple who’s love story goes back a ways — at least to 2018 and “She Got the Best of Me.” They’re broken up now, and one has clearly been doing better than the other at moving on. But now the saga may officially be over.

Killing time in a roadside diner, our unlikely hero is forced to watch his ex cozy up with someone new, when his heart finally turns a corner. Through a day-dreamy montage, a dive bar offering ice-cold heartache medication seems to spring from an old juke box, and while Combs sings on in the background, our guy finds the strength to finally move on.

“The team at TA Films did an incredible job on this one,” Combs says. “My team and I are always keeping the fans in mind with everything we do and the fact that we were able to implement so many ‘easter eggs,’ including characters from my past music videos, was really cool. I hope y’all enjoy it as much as we do.”

“Cold As You” was co-written by Luke Combs with Randy Montana, Shane Minor and Jonathan Singleton. The track is on his What You See Ain’t Always What You Get deluxe album, and is currently Top 20 at country radio and rising.

There will be big expectations for the track since Combs is currently sitting at an astounding 11 Number Ones in a row at country radio — with the last single, “Forever After All,” becoming a Platinum-certified, multi-week chart topper — but even more new music is on the horizon. On Thursday (August 26), Combs will release the fist-pumping “South On Ya,” which looks to be headed for use during the upcoming SEC college football season, and the North Carolina hit maker is currently on the road with the What You See Is What You Get 2021 Tour.
