Newly-minted superstar Luke Combs made his debut on Saturday Night Live over the weekend (February 1), turning in a magnetic two-song performance on the show’s iconic late-night stage.

Finishing off strong with the monster hit, “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” Combs tore through the Platinum Number One like a chainsaw, stomping around the stage in front of his hard rocking seven-piece band. Grinning from the instant he was introduced by NFL star J.J. Watt, it was clear the moment was big for Combs, and he added a flurry of fist pumps at the song’s end to drive the point home.

Meanwhile, the North Carolina kicked things off with a live-show staple earlier in the night, name checking Brooks & Dunn and leaning on his country-lifestyle credentials for the bounding “Lovin’ On You.” A bright blast of ’90s inspired country, the easy-grooving upbeat anthem appears on Combs’ sophomore set, What You See Is What You Get, and was co-written with Thomas Archer, Ray Fulcher and James McNair.

Just last week, Combs released “Does to Me” (featuring Eric Church) as his new single, and will kick off the What You See Is What You Get Tour featuring Ashley McBryde and Drew Parker on February 7.
