Luke Combs has picked a new single as he looks to continue his chart-topping streak, dropping the heart-on-your-sleeve wedding ballad “Forever After All” as his 11th radio release.

A reflective slow jam showing off the softer side of an everyday guy, Combs has said the devoted tune was inspired by his wife, Nicole, and the star confirmed his news with a colorful sunset photo from the pair’s August 1, 2020, wedding. “Forever After All” features Combs’ signature raspy vocal and a warm, no-frills country sound, all about a dude who’s starting to believe that love really can last forever, and it was already a record breaker the moment it was released.

Yet another track off Combs’ What You See Is What You Get album (the set’s sixth single so far) arrived at Number Two on the all genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. That’s the highest debut ever for a male solo country artist, and another feather in the cap of Combs’s second album, which is currently the reigning ACM and CMA Album of the Year.

“They say nothing lasts forever / But they ain’t seen us together / Or the way the moonlight dances in your eyes / Just a t-shirt in the kitchen / With no make-up and a million / Other things that I could look at my whole life / A love like that makes a man have second thoughts / Maybe some things last forever after all,” goes the chorus hook.

“Forever After All” was written by Combs with Rob Williford and Drew Parker. It appears on What You See Is What You Get and follows five Number Ones from that album alone — “Beer Never Broke My Heart,“Even Though I’m Leaving,” “Does to Me” (featuring Eric Church), “Lovin’ On You” and “Better Together.” Luke Combs and his wife Nicole recently spent Valentine’s Day with a TV performance at NASCAR’s Daytona 500.
