Fresh faced starlet Madysyn takes a wanna-be player out of the game in her new video for “Girlfriend,” premiering on Sounds Like Nashville today (April 2).

Following the treat-me-right storyline of her relatable new single, the clip features plenty of commitment-free romance with beach-blanket hangouts and comfy-couch cuddling, but Madysyn keeps finding herself alone when it’s all said and done. Looking for something deeper than a “late night hideaway,” she finally wises up and leaves her faux Romeo neck deep in regret — all wrapped in a breezy, Cali-country sound which highlights ukulele and the newcomer’s expressive vocal.

“If you’re gonna call, call me your girlfriend / If you want it all, not just the weekend / If you wanna stay, stay til the a.m. / If you’re gonna call, call me your girlfriend,” goes the plucky chorus.

“‘Girlfriend’ holds so much confidence and I love being able to put that kind of message out into the world,” she tells SLN. “Music is undeniably powerful in the way that it brings people together when they need it the most. With everything going on in the world right now, I hope that this song and video can raise people’s spirits. The video is a great visualizer that brings the storyline for the song to life. I’m so excited to share it with Sounds Like Nashville!”

Madysyn’s “Girlfriend” is out now, officially released to digital providers in February. It follows up original songs like “Fall for You” and an emotional cover of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow.”
