Nashville-based singer-songwriter Maggie Rose has “Do It,” the lead single from her forthcoming new album, Have A Seat

“Do It” is a song of empowerment, self-love and strength, coupled with infectious groovy melodies that make it the perfect feel-good song with substance. “Do what I wanna do// say what I wanna say / live how I wanna live/ be who I wanna be / love who I’m gonna love / show ‘em what I’m made of,” Rose sings soulfully on the powerful chorus. With an empowering theme and throwback sound, the track could very well have been featured on Dolly Parton’s 1980 film, 9 To 5.

Last month, the vocal powerhouse also took to the Grand Ole Opry stage to debut her new single as well as a timely album cut, “What Are We Fighting For.” The equally soulful tune finds Rose offering a heartfelt plea for compromise in the face of differences, “with a little grace and a little time.”

Have A Seat follows the Maryland native’s 2018 critically-acclaimed album, Change The Whole Thing, which featured the songs “Pull You Through,” “Just Getting By” and an electrifying cover of The Box Tops’ “The Letter.” The upcoming record, which was recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, will also include “Help Myself,” which dropped last year.

“These songs were written during a contentious time, and there are undertones to the lyrics that are influenced by the state of our world politics and the politics of the music industry,” Rose reveals on a statement over social media. “The title Have a Seat is responsorial, placing an emphasis on inclusivity — like, ‘Here, sit down. Let’s try talking to each other.’”
