Maggie Rose has dropped “Help Myself,” a candid, whimsical and sometimes all too relatable song about, well, the fun side of being helpless.

“I diagnose myself with the internet / Minor aches and pains, death is imminent / I think this twitch in my eye might be permanent / You got a cure for it? I need a cure for it / I buy self-help books and call it therapy / Found a quote that calm your anxiety,” Rose sings in a tongue-in-cheek manner as the song opens.

“Help Myself” is a genre-blurring song that leans on the singer’s country, americana, rock, soul and R&B influences, much like Rose’s critically-acclaimed 2018 album, Change The Whole Thing.

Sharing in a statement, the beloved singer-songwriter called her latest release a “candid song about knowing, or not knowing in the slightest, how to pick yourself up out of a bad situation” and added that with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, she was “compelled to share this song and its relatable message.”

To celebrate the song release, Rose enlisted the help of her full band for a special livestream concert on Thursday night (5/28). The hour-long performance was recorded live at the monumental Starstruck Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to lift our spirits amidst the especially crazy state of things than safely bringing back together the band that I love and playing music for all those who have inspired me to make it in the first place,” the vocal powerhouse said. “It feels extra special to hold this reunion and concert in the same location as the recording of Change The Whole Thing.”

“Help Myself” is the first taste of Rose’s upcoming highly-anticipated new record. The entire project, including “Help Myself,” was recorded at the historic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

While you wait for Maggie Rose’s forthcoming album, listen to “Help Myself” now.
