Maren Morris offers an iron-forged tribute to HBO’s Game of Thrones with “Kingdom of One,” a shadowy new track from the upcoming soundtrack album, For the Throne.

Morris joins contemporary hit makers like Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding for the new project, which features original songs inspired by the epic fantasy series. It will be released digitally April 26th – just as the show’s final season heads into the home stretch – and fans can count Morris “Kingdom of One” as a dark ballad about power struggles and the price of a king’s crown.

Backing the controlled ferocity of her vocal with bleak, finger-plucked acoustic guitar and melodramatic orchestral sweeps, Morris says she “channeled her inner Daenerys Targaryen” for the brooding track.

“So you want to play god? Come on / Is that all you got? Come on / Would you sell your soul? Burn it all / Everything that you love / Finally become second to none / In a kingdom of one,” goes the defiant chorus.

Morris is currently out on the road for her headlining Girl: The World Tour, with dates scheduled through August 23 in Canberra, Australia. Her anthemic single “Girl” is now inside the Top 10 of Billboard’s Country Airplay radio chart.
