Country star Maren Morris and pop hit maker Hozier combine unique voices into a soulful cross-genre cocktail on a new remix of Morris’ “The Bones.”

Teaming up with the Irish hitmaker behind 2013’s “Take Me to Church,” Morris mixes her delicate Texas rasp with the natural reverb of Hozier’s haunting vocal. They also reimagine the song’s bridge in breathtaking harmony, while retaining the track’s crystalline guitar lines and message of romantic solidarity.

“When I first heard [Hozier’s] ‘Like Real People Do,’ I think I could actually hear my heart breaking and then immediately felt songwriter envy that I didn’t write it first,” Morris says of working with the bluesy songsmith. “Hozier’s soul and vulnerability is so arresting and fit so well with the foundational theme of my song ‘The Bones.’ I feel so grateful to have him on it.”

“Something of love’s enduring nature really comes through on ‘The Bones,’ it’s a gorgeous song,” Hozier adds. “I was delighted to be asked to sing with the Maren Morris on this track — she is such a wonderful artist.”
