Maren Morris released her third major label album Humble Quest today (March 25), and along with it comes a new video for the defiant title track.

Shot in a grainy, throwback style and following Morris as she embarks on a mission of inner acceptance, it helps introduce a project steeped in deep-thinking change.

Featuring a controlled roots rock sound and Morris’ acclaimed vocal edge, “Humble Quest” captures a woman learning to stand up for herself, rather than fall in line for others. The hit maker has been working to do just that in the last few years, often speaking her mind on LGBT issues, gender and race inequities and politics in general, and more importantly, choosing to create music that speaks to her growth as a person. So this track is like a theme song for that journey — one she seems to think is still not complete.

“I’m on a humble quest / And damn I do my best / Not gonna hold my breath / ‘Cause I still haven’t found it yet / No, I still haven’t found it yet,” goes the chorus.

According to Morris, her Humble Quest album was written “at the beginning of the pandemic as a series of major life changes unfolded—new motherhood, an upended career, the death of beloved friend and collaborator Michael Busbee and more, further compounded by lockdown.”

She goes on to explain that even as her career heated up, she felt control over her life slipping away — and then realized she never had control to begin with, and didn’t need it. Check out other tracks on the set, like “Background Music,” “Circles Around This Town” and more to understand what the Texas native has come to learn about the true definition of humility. Maren Morris’ Humble quest tour will kick off June 9 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Check out the full details here.
