Mickey Guyton is putting her ex-boyfriend in line with her sassy new single, “Heartbreak Song.”

When the singer/songwriter found out that her ex was bragging about being the subject of her last single, “Better Than You Left Me,” she knew she had to make a point.

“I went into this writing session and I was like ‘Y’all, I have this song title called Heartbreak Song and I don’t want it to be this like devastating sounding song. So how do we do that,’” she explained in a “Story Behind The Song” video. “So Mark gets on the guitar and says ‘I ain’t gonna hit you with a Heartbreak Song’ and I was like ‘Um, yes, please! Thank you!’ And then we wrote this song in maybe like two hours and it’s like one of my favorite songs, like ever.”

Mickey will be taking her “Heartbreak Song” out and about in Nashville next week for the 2016 CMA Music Festival, where she’ll play the 26th annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game, sign at the Country Music Hall of Fame and perform at the Radio Disney Country Stage in Fan Fair X.

The Texas native will also take the stage at the Sounds Like Nashville Late-Night Concert Series on Saturday, June 11. More information HERE.
