Day drinking has been known to end with a bunch of hazy, not-quite memories — but what if you could rewind through all the craziness to see what really happened? That’s just what Morgan Evans does in his new “Day Drunk” video, filmed entirely in reverse.

Taking fans on a wild ride that includes a fist fight, a flash mob and plenty of free-flowing booze, the incredible clip was directed by Colin Duffy and filmed on a pier in Long Beach, California. It retraces the action-packed steps that led to Evans splashing down in the ocean at the end of his day, and you’ll want to watch it a few times just to appreciate everything that’s going on. It actually required the Australian hit maker to learn how to sing the entire song backwards — which apparently is no small feat.

“We shot this video in reverse which was way harder, and way more complicated, than any of us expected,” Evans wrote on Instagram. “I hope you dig the good vibes, maybe with a drink in your hand? Hey, it’s 10am somewhere! Cheers!”

“Day Drunk” was written by Evans with frequent collaborator Chris DeStefano and Lindy Robbins, and it appears on his latest album, Things That We Drink To. The upbeat track was recently certified double-Platinum in his native Australia, and is currently working its way up the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Evans is currently wowing crowds with his celebrated one-man show on Rascal Flatts’ Summer Playlist Tour through September, and he’ll headline his World Tour this fall with 26 shows in eight countries, including six sold-out dates in Australia.
