Morgan Wallen brings his nostalgic new single to life in a music video that’s more like a mini-movie, unveiling an eight-minute short film for “7 Summers.”

Directed by Justin Clough and shot in Nashville, the project marks Wallen’s acting debut — and his performance speaks quiet volumes. The hit maker plays a son at odds with his father over the future, looking all too natural inside the small-town drama, while a girl from down the street presents Wallen’s character with another path forward. It’s the story on screen which takes center stage, but that story fits the conflicted song like a glove, adding weight to a mixed musical bag of fond memories and “what ifs?”

Meanwhile, the video brings fans one step closer to Wallen’s upcoming sophomore album, which still hasn’t been announced but he told fans is secretly referenced in the new clip. “Look for a hint of my album release date in there too,” he wrote on social media, driving a wave of speculation and guesses.

Breaking records upon its release, “7 Summers” debuted at Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and inside the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10, while also setting first-day streaming records at Apple Music and Spotify.

This Wednesday (November 11), Wallen will perform the Top 5 and still rising single “More Than My Hometown” at the 54th Annual CMA Awards, where he is also up for New Artist of the Year.
