Some country artists are handling their quarantine cabin fever better than others. But after today, we’re not sure where Old Dominion stands.

After a week of posting cat pictures to their social media accounts, the hit-making band have finally revealed the reason behind it. Recalling an infamous gag from the stoner comedy classic, Super Troopers, the band have released a Meow Mix of their chart-topping self-titled album … and it’s purr-fect.

“Cat’s out of the bag!” the band teased on Instagram. “We are rereleasing our entire album, only this time it’s all ‘meows.’ Sometimes you gotta be silly.”

Silly is one way to describe it. Replacing each and every word on the album with a literal “meow,” everything from “Make It Sweet” to “Some People Do” gets a meow-kover, as the band tap into the lucrative country-cat-novelty song market. Under normal circumstances, they would never have the time to take on such a ridiculous task, but with concerts canceled for the foreseeable future and nothing better to do, why not “meow”?

If not Meow..then WHEN?

It’s quite possible some catnip was involved in the process here, and we can only speculate as to how hard recording these vocals was without rolling on the floor laughing. But chalk this project up as one of the positive things a pandemic can make possible. Take that cat-bin fever!
