Olivia Lane Loves to Make Her Own Sunshine

Who is Olivia Lane? Basically a ray of light you wish was your best friend, for a start.

The country newcomer radiated her way onto the scene a handful of years ago when she moved to Nashville after finishing college in California. Native to the great state of Texas, Lane has the love of country music within her blood and knew she wanted to make a career of it from an early age.

Now making waves with her latest single, “Make My Own Sunshine,” Lane wants her music to represent who she is as an artist and as an individual.

“So I basically came into the write that day, with my producer Ilya Toshinskiy and a writer, Jim Beavers, who I write with all the time. I was like, ‘Guys, I need something that’s up tempo. I need something that’s totally Olivia Lane, who I am, what I’m all about.’ We started talking about that and Jim Beavers goes, ‘Has anybody told you that you’re really sunshine-y,” Lane explained of the inspiration behind the song.

After words were exchanged and ideas thrown around, the writing came together for the single based on a phrase Lane uses daily and they never looked back.

“I just love singing it ‘cause it introduces the crowd to who I am basically,” said Lane.

In her music as well as other projects she does, Lane wants listeners to know a little more about her and her life. The anticipated music video for “Sunshine” was inspired by a minor car accident she got into and the kind reaction she received in that scary moment.

“I got into a tiny little fender bender on the way to rehearsal like a month ago, and I just broke down in tears. This guy…his kindness was so inspiring. He was just like, ‘Really, it’s okay! You know, insurance will figure it out.’ His kindness really inspired me to sort of turn my day around,” she recalled.

Like that of any up-and-coming artist, Lane has a lot on her plate from writing to making music videos to touring. On the road for the next couple months, she is most excited for a couple special shows before hitting up the 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas this year.

Opening up for CAM while staying in Sin City is exceptionally a highlight for Lane at the moment.

“She’s really sweet and such a great voice,” Lane said. “I’ve got another show with her in Long Island, so it’s really cool to be around all of these up and coming females and be around all of that energy. Just keeps me going and keeps me inspired.”

To top it all off, Lane will be hosting her Diva Jam at CMA Music Festival 2016 this summer, where she and a group of female country artists will play their own tunes in a listening room style performance. She also plans on catching some of the other rocking performances going on during the week when she gets the chance.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing Maren Morris. I’ve seen her before in Nashville, but I know that she has all of her new music coming up, and she just inspires me as a new artist. She is so awesome. I would love to see Kacey Musgraves again because I’ve seen her so many times. It’s just women who are so unapologetically themselves, I really tend to favor,” Lane explained.

Seems like Lane is really making the most of her music and her own sunshine in the process.
