Modern day country purist Paul Bogart offers a does of classic romance in “When She Gets a Hold On You,” escaping from the doom and gloom of a world in turmoil.

Matching his timeless vocal with a classic Western sound, the Oklahoma native opens up a proverbial worm hole to the good-ole days, delivering a message of romantic devotion and the transformative power of love. Bogart co-wrote the windblown standout with friends Nicole Witt and Trent Willmon, and with a storyline that echos through the ages, it’s a welcome respite from today’s troubled news cycle.

“Nicole Witt and Trent Willmon are fantastic artists and songwriters!” Bogart says of the track’s old-school approach. “We sat down on Trent’s back porch one afternoon and wrote ‘When She Gets a Hold On You.’ It’s one of those tunes that makes me proud to be a songwriter. This song grows on me every time I play it and I’m excited for the world to hear it!”

“When she gets a hold on you, she just has a way / Of making a full grown man do things / He swore he never would, man that woman’s good / You’ll be picking wild flowers, dancing in the rain / You won’t mind it, you’ll even be smiling / All the while she’s tearing your world apart / When she gets a hold on you, good luck holdin’ on to your heart,” goes the comforting chorus.

“When She Gets a Hold On You” came out official on Friday (June 19), and marks the follow-up to Bogart’s fiddle-laced previous single, “Never Grow Out of It.”
