Josh Mirenda is no stranger to the power of a cleverly-written romantic anthem. The country newcomer has already racked up more than 700 million streams as the co-writer of Number Ones like Dierks Bentley’s “Somewhere On a Beach” and more. But sometimes, it’s best to shoot it straight.

Hitting Sounds Like Nashville exclusively today (January 13), Mirenda delivers a straight-to-the-point declaration of love in the premiere of his new single, “Til The Neon’s Gone” — one that can’t be misunderstood.

Co-written by Mirenda with fellow chart-toppers Jon Nite and Ashley Gorley, “Til The Neon’s Gone” features the warm buzz of a ’90s-era ballad, and all the no-doubt devotion of two souls becoming one. Swaying on a country-rocking cloud nine and with Mirenda’s heart burning like a bar-sign glow, he drops the will-we-or-won’t-we games of dating and puts himself on the line, proclaiming his commitment once and for all. In an era of stylistic experimentation and lyrical gimmicks, it’s just as refreshing as it is simple — and finds a new artist making an equally-undeniable statement.

“I’m gonna love you ’til the neon’s gone / ‘Til there’s no whiskey left in honky tonks / ‘Til there ain’t dirt roads in country songs / And steel guitars don’t play,” goes the chorus. “Yeah when that crowd forgets that we’re around / And you feel like those lights ain’t shining down / Ill still be here I’ll still be hanging on / ‘Cuz I’m gonna love you til the neon’s gone,”

“I wrote this song with two of my buddies who are MEGA songwriters,” Mirenda tells SLN. “The chorus melody came from Ashley Gorley one day when we were just talking ideas. Jon Nite and I ended up writing the lyric at my house one day and it’s just crazy to see it all come together. I don’t think I have ever been so proud of a song. … ‘Til The Neon’s Gone’ is a song about love. The kind of love that ain’t going anywhere. We wanted to make this sound more traditional and I am happy we decided to do that!”

“Til The Neon’s Gone” comes out officially tomorrow (January 14), and a brand new EP set to arrive this summer. Mirenda independently released a self-titled EP which included the 2017 track, “I Got You,” and his multi-Platinum songwriting hits also include Jason Aldean’s “They Don’t Know” and “Girl Like You.”
