Known as one of the most beloved voices in country music, Randy Travis wow’d the crowd with his version of “Amazing Grace” during his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday (Oct. 16).

The country icon was honored alongside fellow inductees Charlie Daniels and Fred Foster during the ceremony in which he lifted the whole room up with his sweet and smooth vocals on the classic ode. Travis has been rebuilding his vocal chords after suffering a severe stroke three years ago, making the moment one filled with proud and happy tears throughout the crowd.

Other country stars paid tribute to the legend and the other honored artists from artists like Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and more. Travis’ wife also gave a moving speech about her husband and how he used strength in times of doubt to overcome the critical moment.

“Randy stared death in the face, but death blinked,” Davis-Travis said. “Today God’s proof of a miracle stands before you.”

Daniels was eternally grateful to accept the grand accolade from the industry and thanked the audience for all of their support to his music throughout his career.

“A plaque on this wall is not just another award or accolade,” he said. “It’s a page in a history book. An unending history book.”

A few other artists, including Trace Adkins and Jamey Johnson, performed hits from each of the artists’ catalogues before the official induction commenced.
