On Tuesday, June 22, rising country group Restless Road got to make their long-awaited Grand Ole Opry debut.

Just like many country artists, performing at the hallowed institution and stepping into the sacred circle has been a life-long dream for the band, something they feel immensely grateful to have finally accomplished.

“It’s something we’ve always wanted to do,” the group’s Garrett Nichols tells Sounds Like Nashville in an interview, hours before their debut. “It’s one of those things where all your country music heroes you grew up with, they’ve all done this. So, for us to be included, it’s a huge honor. It feels crazy. We’re just living the dream, and it’s amazing.”

The newcomers shared the bill that special night with artists such as Carly Pearce, Lukas Nelson, Maggie Rose, Seaforth, and country superstar, Reba McEntire, who they preceded on stage.

Nichols, Zach Beeken and Colton Pack performed their infectious new single, “Bar Friends,” as well as the heart-rending “It Ain’t Easy,” a track from their 2020 major label debut EP.

“‘It Ain’t Easy’ is a song that has always meant a lot to us. It’s a song that we just really relate to every line. It just really shows off our harmonies and what we’re really all about,” shares Beeken, who penned it with Nichols, Steve Bogard, Justin Wilson, Jacob Durrett and Jared Keim.

“When we wrote it, we always said, ‘Man, this is a song we’re gonna play at the Grand Ole Opry. Whenever we get to play the Grand Ole Opry, we’re gonna play this song.’ So when we heard we were gonna play it, we knew that we were gonna play this song.”
