Runaway June tribute life’s golden’s moments in their video for “We Were Rich,” counting up treasures that truly last.

Directed by Patrick Tracy, the nostalgic video celebrates the simple joy of a small town childhood, narrated in gorgeous harmony by the trio of Naomi Cooke, Jennifer Wayne, and Natalie Stovall. The heartwarming clip was filmed in Stovall’s hometown of Columbia, Tennessee, and traces a familiar path for the singer and fiddle maestro, proving that the richness of one’s life isn’t measured by a bank statement.

“The first time I saw our music video I just started sobbing like a baby!” Stovall says. “I didn’t expect to get so emotional! It opens on the house I grew up in, features my parents and sweeps through intensely nostalgic moments, people and places from my childhood and hometown. I couldn’t think of a more perfect visual love letter to the town that made me who I am! And the fact that this is my first music video with Runaway June just makes it even more special.”

“’We Were Rich’ is probably our favorite song on the record and it’s been a long time coming, this one being a single,” says Cooke, the group’s lead vocalist. “We are so excited to finally be able to say that. It is a song about your childhood or your adolescence. It’s nostalgia reminiscing about back before you knew anything was wrong in the world, back before when you thought you had it all.”

Following the departure of founding member Hannah Mulholland, “We Were Rich” is Runaway June’s current single and part of their 2019 debut album, Blue Roses, which also included the 2018 Top 5 radio hit, “Buy My Own Drinks.” On October 16, the trio will release their When I Think About Christmas EP.
