All fans can say about Russell Dickerson’s latest song drop is “It’s About Time” he finally worked with his Florida Georgia Line pals, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, on a track.

The “Blue Tacoma” singer teamed up with the award-winning duo to bring the party on the three-minute release, which features a head-banging guitar interlude that flows into the dance party chorus that could make any listener want to raise a cold one in the air.

“I put any and every idea into my phone. I was sitting with my wife, and I said, ‘Baby, it’s about time for a drink’. The phrase had a flow to it. I was scrolling through my notes in a session, and I got all of these images like ‘Truckstop ice’. You don’t hear that kind of lyrical imagery in country songs these days. We always want to take it to the next level though. Florida Georgia Line are two of my best friends. Tyler Hubbard is always giving me dad advice now. So, I told him, ‘Dude, I think I need FGL on this banger’. Next thing you know, we got in the studio and they recorded their vocals. It’s always so fun to make music with friends,” Dickerson explained.

Dickerson lent his writing skills to the song alongside fellow songwriters Casey Brown and Parker Welling, who made up the dream team that put together Dickerson’s first No. 1 single, “Yours.” While this fresh release makes a full turn from the romantic ballad, it shows that these guys know how to jam out and have a good time.

“It’s about time for a drink / It’s about time for a cold one / It’s about time for a throwback / Play me a country gold one,” Dickerson sings like the host with the most.

FGL echoes that good time sentiment with their own verse celebrating the right vibes with the right people.

“All my people got a tall boy can / Or a long neck bottle, or double cup in their hand, yeah / Twisting the top off some Friday plans / Yeah, we walk up in the party like who’s ready to dance,” they add to the track.

Both Dickerson and Florida Georgia Line honored the release with social media posts about the drop, showing a behind-the-scenes look at the recording and making of “It’s About Time.”

“Cheers to good drinks, good times and the greatest of friends. Stoked our boy @russelled invited us to be a part of this one,” Florida Georgia Line captioned their promo post.

While this marks the first time the three guys have produced a collaboration with each other, they’ve actually known each other for years. Dickerson, Hubbard and Kelley all went to college at Belmont University together and the rest is history.

“It’s About Time” is available to stream now.
