Rising star Ryan Hurd offers up a five pack of next-generation country on his new Platonic EP, out now and building on his Gold-certified hit, “To A T.”

Combining dynamic sense of melody with vivid, visceral lyrics touching smartly on everything from romantic desire to changing the world wish at a time, the set marks another step in Hurd’s transformation from hit songwriter to full-on recording artist.

“It’s really fun to release Platonic because we have ‘To A T’ still going up the charts, and we’ve created this snowball that keeps getting bigger and that includes fans,” Hurd explains, “and fans have said they wanted new music. So anytime you get to release new music it’s really exciting.”

The emerging singer has already penned hits for Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Lady Antebellum in the past, but on Platonic puts own voice front and center. Along with “To A T,” potential fans can indulge in lighthearted lust on “Half Hoping,” call up a red hot memory in “Florida With A Girl,” step back from political poison on “Wish For the World” and embrace inescapable attraction on the set’s title track.

“I feel like these five songs take a broad approach to country music,” Hurd explained. “You get to really explore on EPs and this is one where I feel like we’ve really kind of covered a lot of ground sonically, and lyrically.”

Hurd — who happens to be married to fellow country star Maren Morris and is featured in the video for her romantic jam, “The Bones” — will celebrate the project’s release on the road.
