Country star Sam Hunt thinks back on a love story that will never grow old in his latest song release, sharing the grooving nostalgia of “23.”

All about romantic moments that linger in the memory, the swaying track features a tender heartbeat and sugar-sweet lyrics to match, as Hunt rekindles young love and the best days of his life. Finding a way to freeze time, at least for his heart, he sings about an early relationship that still weighs on his soul, and how the couple will be forever linked — even if they move on with separate lives.

No matter where I go, no matter what I do / I’ll never be 23 with anyone but you / You can marry who you want / Go back to Tennessee / But you’ll never be 23 with anyone but me,” goes the chorus, sung with soulful country passion.

The track is the first taste of new music from Sam Hunt since the release of his Southside album in 2020, and Hunt has recorded an acoustic version of “23,” filming the session at Nashville’s Ocean Way Studio.

Hunt is currently on tour. He released his second album, Southside, in April of 2020, which featured the Number Ones “Hard to Forget,” “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90’s” and “Kinfolks.” He’s also featured on “Wishful Drinking,” a recent duet with Ingrid Andress.
