Scotty McCreery delivers an ode to his home state in the new track, “Carolina to Me,” carving out a little Heaven on Earth in pure-country style.
Written by the country favorite with Taylor Phillips and Jeremy Bussey, “Carolina to Me” is part of McCreery’s upcoming fifth studio album, Same Truck, and helps reveal his deep love for North Carolina. From its deep forests to the sandy beaches and everything in between, McCreery croons of the state as more than just a place. To him, it’s a way of life, and he pairs the timeless message with a rootsy, classic-country sound, featuring acoustic guitar and McCreery’s wise-beyond-his-years vocal.
“To me, North Carolina is just a little piece of Heaven on Earth, and I hope when I get to Heaven, there’s a little bit of North Carolina in it,” McCreery says of the song.
“You think pearly gates / You think streets of gold / And I think about them long leaf pines lined on Tobacco Road / You think skies of blue / You think angels’ wings / I think grandpa on an old creek bank and a Zebco 33 / We all got our own opinions / We all believe what we believe / But everything that’s Heaven to you / Is Carolina to me,” goes the chorus.
Same Truck arrives on September 17, and along with “Carolina to Me,” the project will also feature McCreery’s current single, “You Time” — which is nearing the Top 5 at Country Radio. McCreery has also released the title track from the album.
Produced by Frank Rogers, Derek Wells and Aaron Eshuis, Same Truck is said to depict a new level of maturity, as McCreery reaches his 10th year after winning American Idol in 2011. Scotty McCreery is currently back on the road and opening shows for Old Dominion on their “ballpark” tour of minor-league baseball stadiums
