The Oak Ridge Boys’ William Lee Golden has led a very interesting and surprising life. The baritone, along with his sons, let the world in on the good, the bad and the ugly in a captivating new autobiography called Behind the Beard. After being approached by writer Scot England, Golden decided to share his deepest secrets and allow England to interview anyone he wished.

“Scot is the one that approached me about this,” he shared with Sounds Like Nashville. When I’d see him, he’d say, ‘You know, I’d really like to write a book on you.’ I said, ‘Who would buy a book on me? Man, I’m just a baritone singer.’ But he said he felt like I had a story to tell, and he wanted to be the one to help me tell it. So I said, ‘You can ask what you want. What it is is what it is and I’m not trying to hide who I am or my mistakes or anything I’ve done.’”

The book shares more than 200 never-before-seen photos of Golden and includes personal stories about his biggest triumphs and failures. It even features interviews with his longtime Oak Ridge Boys bandmates.
