Rising country singer Teddy Robb is back with “Whiskey Can’t,” his first new release in over a year.

The mid-tempo love song, penned by Robb, Brandon Ratcliff, Kelly Archer, Pete Good, and Josh Jenkins, finds the singer cleverly reflecting on the very things that only a relationship can do—which conversely, are the same things rounds of whiskey drinking can’t ever do.

On the cleverly-written chorus, Robb sings, “I feel something different when I got you in my hands / There ain’t a better buzz girl / You do what the whiskey can’t.”

Of the song’s genesis, Robb tells Sounds Like Nashville, “I spent a lot of 2020 learning what whiskey can do and at some point it hit me that for all it’s good for, there are some things, it just can’t do. Some things you can only get from that certain someone – somebody that does what the whiskey can’t.”

Additionally, in a “Story Behind The Song” video, Robb shared that the inspiration for “Whiskey Can’t” arrived after he heard a song by fellow country singer Matt Stell’s song called “I Bet Whiskey Would.”

“It’s one of my favorite songs that he’s put out, and it got me thinking about what the whiskey can do,” Robb recalls in the clip. “That’s what kinda sparked the idea for me [and] I started writing it with those guys, and it turned into a really special day.”

Prior to this, in 2020, the Monument Records artist released the nostalgic “Heaven On Dirt” and his self-titled EP, which included the songs “Tell Me How,” “Lead Me On” and his debut single, “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You.”
