Country trio Temecula Road have released an acoustic recording of their song “Maybe Not,” which originally debuted in October of last year.

The fresh mix strips is a softer, acoustic guitar-led track that spotlights (Temecula Road’s) Emma Salute, Maddie Salute and Dawson Anderson’s signature harmonies. In fact, it’s a return to form for the group.

“We first started playing music together acoustically–just guitar, mandolin, and our voices. We’ve always had such a great response when we’ve stripped down other people’s songs for covers, so we wanted to give the same treatment to our own,” Temecula Road told Sounds Like Nashville. “We’ve played hundreds of live shows with just the three of us acoustically, so it’s exciting to have music out there that also gets back to those basics.”

On a Facebook Live last month, Anderson also shared that they “were trying to find the right balance from acoustic stuff to more modern-sounding things.” “With ‘Maybe Not,’ it was kind of more on the ballad-y side. We got in the studio and we were working with Andrew on the original [version] of the song. It ended up becoming a groovy midtempo [tune] versus this downtempo song. That brought a lot of life to it…the bass lines were cooler.”

Prior to this, the Buena Vista Records group dropped both studio and acoustic versions of “Fades” and “Never Knew I Needed You.” More recently, they surprise-released a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb,” which was delivered as encouragement to students graduating during this difficult time.
