Thomas Rhett brought a moment of quiet reflection to the exciting Season 20 finale of NBC’s The Voice on Tuesday (May 25), presenting a feel-good life lesson with his current single, “Country Again.”

Backed by his full band and sporting an acoustic guitar, the arena headliner and muti-Platinum hit maker stood proudly on a glitzy stage … but he had a down-home message to share, resolving to embrace a simpler way of life. Featuring a classic-country sound and the slow cadence of a heart-to-heart chat, the track is TR’s ode to getting back to his Tennessee roots, and it came across with genuine gratitude.

For the last few years Rhett has been living the fast-paced, jet-setting lifestyle of a superstar, and also making music with a pop edge that’s earned fans around the world. But with “Country Again” — which is also the title of his recently-released Country Again: Side A album — he rejects all those distractions, and instead focuses on being present in the country moment.

“Yeah, I love me some California / But it sure ain’t Tennessee / And my roots down there in Georgia / Yeah, they started missin’ me / And I wouldn’t change the things I’ve done / Or the places that I’ve been / Man, it feels good to be country again,” goes the chorus hook.

The performance by Thomas Rhett helped cap another season of incredible talent finding on NBC’s The Voice, as Cam Anthony was crowned the Season 20 winner later in the night. Kelsea Ballerini also took the stage, sharing a duet of her “Half of My Hometown” with Kenzie Wheeler. TR recently finished his return to the stage with five nights at Billy Bob’s Texas, and is next slated to appear on the 2021 CMT Music Awards. He and wife Lauren Akins are currently expecting their fourth baby girl.
