Tim McGraw highlights an unshakeable kind of love in the official video for his new single, “I Called Mama,” crowd-sourcing a clip full of motherly joy.
Matching his heartfelt ballad with real-life families celebrating their most cherished members, the tender new clip also features never-before-seen home movies of the superstar as a baby — helping show off the genuine sprit behind the tune. Written by Marv Green, Lance Miller and Jimmy Yeary, McGraw says the warm-and-fuzzy track’s message is a universal one, now made even more powerful.
“It’s a great reminder that hearing someone’s voice who knows you and loves you can help you get through anything,” he explains. “I think it’s at these very difficult times that music can help and the power of a song can give someone a moment of clarity or comfort, or just a smile. Especially now, when we seem to need it more than ever.”
“Mothers are really the most important part of our lives, and I feel like we should celebrate moms all the time,” McGraw says further in a social media teaser of the clip, just before shocking one lucky fan who’s daughters set up a surprise video chat.

“I Called Mama” marks McGraw’s first taste of a new recording project after returning to Big Machine Label Group in February, and although he’s been forced to cancel his 2020 Here On Earth Tour, he just appeared on CMT’s Feed the Front Line Live fundraiser.
