Tim McGraw strips down one of his biggest hits for a the Amazon Originals series, releasing a jaunty rendition of “Something Like That.”

A fan favorite for over 20 years now, “Something Like That” was first released back in 1999 and immediately became one of McGraw’s classic hits. It’s still famous for its “BBQ stained white T-shirt” line and all the euphoria of falling in love. And it’s always had an element of laid-back cool to it. But here McGraw and his band crank up the effortless ecstasy.

Featuring a bouncy New Orleans-style piano melody and a paired back rhythm section, the new version lets McGraw’s Louisiana vocal shine even brighter than usual, as he relishes a track that truly stands the test of time. He explains that when Amazon requested he take part in the series, he wasn’t sure which song to perform, and left the decision up to fans themselves.

“This is one of my favorite songs to play live,” McGraw says. “It always takes the energy level up a notch and it’s just a lot of fun. We let the fans pick a closing song from our Here On Earth Livestream Experience and this was their choice. It’s a stripped-down acoustic version of the song, something you don’t get to hear us do very often with this one. We hope you like it.”

“Something Like That” was originally found on Tim McGraw’s 1999 album, A Place In The Sun. It hit Number One and quickly became a live-show staple, and then went on to become the most played radio song of the 2000s. McGraw released his latest offering, Here on Earth, in August, and other artists featured in Amazon Music’s Amazon Originals series include Maren Morris, Gabby Barrett, Dan + Shay, Dolly Parton and dozens more.
