Country mainstay Toby Keith and hit maker Cole Swindell joined forces for rollicking two-for-one medley at the 2019 CMT Music Awards, lighting up Nashville’s neon lined Lower Broadway in loose and lively style.

Surrounded by honky tonks and gleeful fans, Keith kicked things off solo with the loud-and-proud “That’s Country Bro” — his new single — calling out country totems like Smokey and the Bandit, John Wayne, Andy Griffith, George Jones and the like. All the while, his seasoned road band (with full horn section included) rolled on, but soon they took a left turn.

Transitioning seamlessly into the crowd favorite “Beer for My Horses” as Swindell jumped onstage to take Willie Nelson’s part on the legendary 2003 hit, many a red solo cup was raised — by both the artists and fans.

Keith and Swindell were among a record-breaking amount of performances at the 2019 CMT Music Awards, held live in Nashville on Wednesday, June 5. The night’s festivities crown the winners of the best music videos of the year. All of the awards were fan voted on cmt.com.

The 2019 CMT Music Awards were hosted live on CMT by Little Big Town in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
