Toby Keith Visits Hometown of Moore, Oklahoma To Survey Tornado Damage

Toby Keith paid a visit to his hometown of Moore, Okla. on Tuesday to survey the damage and destruction left by the powerful EF5 tornado that tore through the small town on Monday. While on the ground, Keith spoke with local and national media about the damage and revealed how he plans to help.

“The bad thing about it is that it didn’t just pass through and skip and hop,” the singer told CNN. “It just sat in one place for a long time and just churned and churned. It would move along good and then it would stop and just churn. It was very violet.”

He went on to compliment the people of Moore, explaining that they’ll persevere. “We’re resilient here. I’m proud to live here in this town,” he said. “I’ve always called it home.”

When asked about plans to put together a benefit concert for the town, Toby said there’s something in the works.

“I’ve had 500 text messages from people all over the music world saying ‘What are we doing? We want to help,’ Keith revealed. He also mentioned that he’s talked to the University of Oklahoma about using their stadium. No matter plans pan out for a benefit concert though, Toby said, “I’m in and Moore knows I’m gonna be here.”
