One of the best things about the holiday season is spending time with family and remembering holiday traditions. Trisha Yearwood recently revealed one family tradition she loves to do with husband Garth Brooks and his three daughters.

“The biggest tradition that we’ve done since the girls were little is to decorate the tree together,” says Yearwood. “Even though we are all in different places and the girls are grown, that is still a tradition. So, our tree might get decorated at Thanksgiving, it might get decorated the day before Christmas, but that is the one thing that we hold true to.”

Holiday traditions sometimes tend to fall to the wayside as families grow, but Yearwood says that this tradition has only become more important to the girls as they’ve grown older, and now, they are the ones keeping the tradition going.

“You know when you’re little, I know we’re all this way, the things that your parents thought were cool when you were a kid that you thought, ‘Why are we doing this?’ As you get older it becomes important to you,” says Yearwood. “So, those girls, we probably would’ve let the tradition go, but they were like, ‘No, we have to decorate the tree together.’ So, it’s something that we continue to do and just like in my family growing up, for us we just make sure that we have time to be together and it might not be on the day, but we make sure that around the holidays we have everybody in one place.”

Yearwood recently participated in a country music Christmas tradition this year by hosting the 2019 CMA Country Christmas. The show, featuring performances by Yearwood, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, and more, will aired Tuesday, December 3 on ABC.
