Two of America’s true vocal divas team up for a classic heartbreak anthem this week, with Trisha Yearwood and Kelly Clarkson joining forces on “Workin’ on Whiskey.”

The opening track from Yearwood’s upcoming Every Girl album, “Workin’ on Whiskey” was written by Jessica Mitchell, Dave Thomson and Patricia Conroy, and produced by Garth Fundis. Clarkson providing richly textured harmony vocals for the torchy track — all about the loss of a love so strong it’s impossible to settle for anything less. With Yearwood’s soaring, crystal-clear vocals full of soul and backed by a weeping steel guitar, it’s an epic emotional standout delivered by two of the best.

Yearwood has also recorded a live version of the track for Spotify, and “Workin’ on Whiskey” will be featured alongside her empowering single, “Every Girl in This Town,” when the album arrives August 30.

Up next, Yearwood will keep the classy country coming with her first solo tour in five years (she’s been on the road with husband Garth Brooks most of that time). Kicking off the Every Girl On Tour October 3 with three nights at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Yearwood will visit more than 20 cities through December 8 in Naples, Florida, and tickets are on sale now.
