“My manager texted me and he’s like ‘hey, you got any friends who are willing to do like stupid stuff?’ I was like ‘just tell me how many you need,'" Beathard told SLN.

When it came time to come up with a treatment for his “Momma and Jesus” music video, Tucker Beathard wanted to go all out. So when a video director came to him with the idea of reprising the show Jackass for the clip, the Tennessee native was all in.

“I guess it was kind of just one that stood out to us, for a director to have that mindset. It’s kind of what I did growing up a lot,” Beathard told Sounds Like Nashville during a recent interview. “Me and my brothers and friends would love to do stupid videos and kind of portray ‘Jackass’ and stuff like that, because I love that show. So I got fired up when I saw that and we just kind of ran with it and started brainstorming some ideas.”

The three-and-a-half minute clip features Beathard and his buddies doing some pretty rambunctious activities, like riding motorbikes into inflatable pools, wearing women’s lingerie while being pelted with paintballs, and riding the famous pedal tavern “naked.” While the stunts may deter some, Beathard had no trouble enlisting the help of those closest to him.

“My manager texted me and he’s like ‘hey, you got any friends who are willing to do like stupid stuff?’ I was like ‘just tell me how many you need.’ So we all got out there and we were fired up to do it,” he said.

While the singer/songwriter admits the entire video was a blast to make, one scene stands out to him.

“All of it was fun, but there’s something about the paintball one because it was like the most adrenaline rush and it definitely hurt the most out of all of them,” he explained. “The funny thing is, we took like three takes of it too, which I didn’t think we were actually going to do. We’d go around and get like lit up and they’d be like ‘oh yeah, let’s roll that again.’ I’d be like ‘are you kidding me, man?’ So that was fun because it was just such an adrenaline rush.”

So what does his “momma” think about the whole thing? Thankfully, she hasn’t seen it yet.

“She hasn’t seen the video yet, so I don’t know what she’s going to think about it, but I’m sure she won’t be too surprised. She’ll probably be like ‘doesn’t surprise me, but what the hell?’ I’m sure she’ll get a laugh out of it.”
