Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like” is already likely going down as the song of 2021, but he’s still adding some fancy new bells and whistles to the dressed-down anthem.

A new collab remix of the track features Tennessee-born pop star and general badass, Kesha, adding her patented mix of grit and glamor to the irresistible hit.

Taking the original tune and adding a Waffle-House loving verse from the pop songstress, the new version is still just as un-fancy as the original, but now features an artist who famously used to “brush her teeth with a bottle of Jack.” Likewise, a video with the two stars was filmed in Los Angeles by director Rehman Ali, helping bring the low-rent and cheap-thrills fun to life.

“This song came out of a conversation about the misconceptions that celebrities or artists live a lavish lifestyle, and it’s important for folks to know that’s not necessarily true,” Hayes says of the new collab. “I’m truly about as fancy as Applebee’s on a date night, so creating a video celebrating the simple moments in life – like watching a movie or drinking box wine – was important to us. Kesha and I each bring our own versions of ‘Fancy Like’ to this, and I love how it came together.”

“This song speaks to me on a very deep level,” Kesha added in a post on Instagram. “I’m fancy like…. A southern bitch who loves a Waffle House after a night at the dive bar n karaoke…. How u fancy like?”

“I don’t need no Bentley, to impress me / I ride the bullet to the party like a jet ski / or put that Dom down, take me to Waffle House / Give me those cheap thrills chillin in the deep South,” goes her verse.

“Fancy Like” was written by Walker Hayes with Cameron Bartolini, Shane Stevens, and Josh Jenkins, and appears on Hayes’ Country Stuff EP. After going viral on TikTok this summer, the track has exploded as a massive hit, and has now spent 12 weeks at Number One on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. The song is also in the Top 5 of Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 Songs, the Top 5 of country radio singles and the Top 15 of Pop radio singles. And better yet, it inspired Applebee’s to bring back their Oreo Cookie Shake.

Hayes has also released a “Fancy Like” collab with regional Mexican star Carin Leon, which puts another intriguing (and Spanish-language) spin on the hit during Hispanic Heritage Month.
