Walker Hayes dials up a reckless kind of love in his new single, “Trash My Heart,” celebrating the romantic equivalent of destroying a hotel room.

Letting the good times roll in his first high-energy anthem since his double-Platinum “You Broke Up With Me,” the lighthearted track is all about jumping head first into a relationship — and not being afraid to drop a few metaphorical TVs out the window in the process. Imagined as the polar opposite of a heartbreak song, it features another clever turn of phrase from guy behind thoughtful standouts like “Craig” and “Don’t Let Her,” but this time there’s no hidden meaning behind his one-of-a-kind delivery.

“I’m usually the guy that likes to get real deep and introspective with my songs, but this song is just all about fun,” he says. “I want every line of this song to make you smile. I want every line to make you want to dance!”

Co-written by Hayes with Matt Jenkins, Josh Jenkins, Josh Osborne and Jimmy Robbins, the bouncy mix of country, R&B and hip hop was produced by an all-star collective of Sam Sumser, Sean Small and Shane McAnally. There’s no word on when Hayes will follow up 2017’s boom with another full album, but the promising star will host a virtual release party for “Trash My Heart” live on Instagram Wednesday (April 29).
