Throwback trio Midland return with a twangy new single titled “Mr. Lonely,” and a booty-shaking dance video to go with it.

Giving fans the first taste of the band’s upcoming second album, singer Mark Wystrach, guitarist Jess Carson and bassist Cameron Duddy double down on their electrifying brand of modern honky tonk for the track. “Mr. Lonely” features a loping dance floor beat and a gettin-over-him theme, all about an opportunistic guy who spends Saturday nights sweeping broken-hearted cowgirls off their feet. It was written by the band with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, and pairs Wystrach’s sly vocal with stone-country guitar riffs and slippery steel from the legendary Paul Franklin.

Meanwhile, the track’s grainy infomercial-style video is sure to inspire some good-old-fashioned boot-scootin’. With scantily-clad line dancers showing off a brand new step, the clip doesn’t even include the band. But it does offer up a toll free number to get a hold of “Mr. Lonely” himself, should the need arise.

Following their Platinum-certified “Drinkin’ Problem” breakout in 2017 and the Top 5 follow up, “Burn Out,” Midland are up for two honors at this year’s ACM Awards – Group of the Year and Video of the Year for “Burn Out.” The show airs live from Las Vegas April 7 on CBS, and Midland will continue their headlining Electric Rodeo Tour this spring.
