Zac Brown Band ride the waves of a stormy metaphorical sea in the new single, “Same Boat,” aiming to get everyone rowing in the same direction.

Featuring a come-together theme in a time of glaring divisions, and a message of arm-in-arm unity, the upbeat track feels like a throwback to simpler country-music times.

Co-written by Brown with Ben Simonetti and Jonathan Singleton, “Same Boat” stands as a roots-rocking jam with an energetic core — giving off flashbacks to the take-it-as-it-comes backbeat of ZBB’s biggest hit, “Chicken Fried.” Twangy guitars, a bouncy rhythm and Brown’s uplifting vocal all combine with the best of intentions, as the Georgia native reminds listeners that everyone lives on the same planet.

“‘Same Boat’ is really about the human condition,” Brown explains in an official statement. “It’s about how we all go through the same things, all together. It is a chance to be able to remind people to be positive, be good to each other and show empathy. You don’t know what it’s like to walk around in someone else’s shoes. We’re all human beings. Let’s spread some love around and show kindness to each other.”

“We’re all in the same boat / Fishing in the same hole / Wondering where the same time goes / And money too / Tryna fix the same broke hearts / Wishing on the same stars / We’re all hoping hope floats / And we’re all in the same boat,” goes the chorus.

“Same Boat” marks the band’s first release from their new label partnership with Warner Music Nashville/Home Grown Music, and follows their heartwarming 2020 single, “The Man Who Loves You Most.” The Zac Brown Band will embark on The Comeback Tour this fall, starting with a gig in Holmdel, New Jersey, on August 5.
