2016 Grammy Nominations: Country Stars React

Nominees for the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards were revealed this morning.

Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton and Sam Hunt were among the top country music nominees, with LBT and Stapleton each earning four, and Hunt with two. Social media was quickly buzzing from the excitement as country stars learned the news.

LBT, who is nominated for the all-genre Song of the Year category for “Girl Crush” tweeted, “WOW! 4 nominations? We are thrilled to be representing country music w/ @TheGRAMMYs, esp ‘Song Of The Year.'”

Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley earned a nod for his debut solo single, “The Driver,” featuring Eric Paslay and Dierks Bentley. “Best news I’ve had since found out I’m gonna be a father: “the driver” @TheGRAMMYs nomination for best country duo or group performance,” he wrote.

Paslay quoted Kelley, adding, “Honored to share this nomination w/ @CharlesKelley & @DierksBentley @TheGRAMMYs #TheDriver”

Blake Shelton also earned a nomination for his duet with Ashley Monroe, “Lonely Tonight.” “Congrats @ashleymonroe!!!! We going to the Grammys!!!!” he wrote, adding “That’s it!!! Grammy time…” with an MC Hammer gif.

Monroe was equally as excited, tweeting “THANK YOU MY BLAKESTON!!😍😍😂😂😂 #herewecome #countrycomestotown 🍷🍷🍷👨🏻👩🏼”

Brothers Osborne earned their first nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with their single, “Stay A Little Longer.” “Y’all… We’re nominated for a freaking Grammy!!! Yup, we don’t believe it either,” the Bros wrote.

The most touching reaction of all was from Joey and Rory Feek, who were nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “If I Needed You.” The last several months have been rough on the family as they battle Joey’s terminal cancer.

“…woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of “If I Needed You” was nominated for a Grammy. As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, “how can that be? ” ….the song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born. God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” Rory wrote on Facebook.
