ACM Awards Announce New Date

It’s official – the 2020 ACM Awards have a new date. The show, which was originally scheduled for April 5, has been moved to September, the Academy of Country Music confirms. According to a press release, the show will take place Wednesday, September 16.
The decision to move the show to a later date did not come easily for the organization, whose annual celebration honors the best in country music over the last year.
“The ACM Awards® is a tentpole event for our Country Music industry, and the Academy of Country Music® and dick clark productions went to great lengths to find a safe solution for the show to go on so that we can honor our artist community. This decision involved many partners, stakeholders and the industry who we have been in constant conversations with over the past several days as the situation has developed. We look forward to identifying a future date that we can celebrate with our Country community safely,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, in a previous press release.
No word yet on who will perform, but Keith Urban is still slated to host the show for the first time.
Country fans can still get their fill of the music on April 5, however, as the ACM and CBS have teamed up for ACM Presents: Our Country, a program that will feature “intimate conversations and at-home acoustic performances with top country artists along with clips of their favorite moments from the Academy of Country Music Awards’ 55-year history.”
ACM Presents: Our Country will air on April 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The 55th annual ACM Awards will air Wednesday, Sept. 16 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET/delayed PT) on CBS.
