Platinum-selling recording artist and former Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has spent a good chunk of his career honoring our troops who sacrifice everything to keep our country safe. He will continue to do so with the release of his new song “Folded Flag.”

The song, written Marty Morgan, Luc Nyhus and Yasmine Van Wilt and produced by Ben Kitterman, sentimentally expresses gratitude for our troops’ service with lyrics like “Two men with starch white gloves / Fold the colors ‘til they touch / It’s probably more than I deserve / But I’m proud to get this much / Sendin’ all the love I ever had / Inside this folded flag.”

“In today’s world, the ultimate sacrifice that our servicemen and women give selflessly in protection of the American Dream is often overlooked,” stated Lewis. “The first time I heard this song, I watched three battle-hardened special forces soldiers cry after hearing it. I knew it hit home and I knew it deserved to be heard.”

If you have ever been to one of Lewis’s shows, you know that he opens each performance with “The Pledge of Allegiance,” even requesting that everyone remove their hats to do so before his appearance on Spike TV’s Rock the Troops this past winter. We admire Lewis’s respect for those who work every day to maintain the saftey our great nation.

“Folded Flag” is available on iTunes now. You can see Aaron Lewis perform the song live on his current headlining Sinner Tour.
