The creators on American Idol have much to celebrate – not only did season three concluded by crowning Just Sam as the winner, but the show has been renewed for season four.
Announced just days before its live streamed finale episode, the show shared that it would continue its search for the brightest new talent across America.
While fans can be certain that the show will return once again, the network was mum on whether or not the judges – Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie – as well as the host Ryan Seacrest and mentor Bobby Bones would return.
Much to the delight of ABC, Idol has been ranked the No.1 broadcast series in its time period for 13 straight weeks for Adults 18-49, as of May 15. It also garnered nearly 3.2 million total social interactions during its Mother’s Day and Disney hybrid episode, marking its highest social of the season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, last night’s (5/17) finale brought in 7.26 million viewers, about 1.1 million more than a week prior and the highest viewing since March.
With the coronavirus pandemic still causing uncertainty when it comes to live shows and social interactions, there is no word yet on when season four of American Idol may begin auditions.
